Our grounds are exceptional thanks to the foresight of past generations, giving our school a unique environment. Many visitors enthuse at our pleasant grounds, mature trees and unrivalled views. We are fortunate to have shady, grassed playing areas, an oval, a large sandpit incorporating a timber climbing frame and fort, cubby house, a courtyard with shade sails for quiet activities and plenty of trees and shrubs to explore. The huge, new undercover multi-purpose area will be used extensively for summer and winter activities, providing an additional asset in our playground. This is a school ground with lots to offer in its variety of play options. With the erection of the new school building the school will undertake a major facelift in the grounds and gardens. This project will take a good part of 2012 to complete but will include paths and gardens for the children and their families to enjoy.
The school has recently undergone major improvements with the erection of a whole new school building. This building houses three classes, general office, principals office, staffroom, MARC van storage office and a huge common room. The building also has a sickbay and staff toilet.
In 2014 the school erected a new unique to Tawonga Primary School Playground. The new structure took advantage of some old playground materials and supplies and services kindly donated by school families.
In 2015 Tawonga Primary School received a Communities for Nature Grant which allowed us to redevelop the 'gully area'. With this we removed a concrete pipe and installed native trees and giant boulders for children to play on. This opened up the area an in years to come will become a beautifully treed area.
During 2015 also the school received a Food and Fibre grant which allowed the school to grow vegetable and fruit varieties for use in the new industrial style kitchen which was built during 2015 also. A new program began each week where students were either involved in cooking, making or gardening. This was well received and has taught students where our food comes from and the processes which food goes through before it reaches our tables.
In 2016 the school is planning on adding Chickens to our yard in a specially made Chicken Coop out the side of the school. These chickens will produce eggs which will be used in our cooking program.
The school is also home to Tawonga Kindergarten which caters for both 3 and 4 year olds. This service runs on Mondays and Wednesdays. All enquiries regarding Tawonga Kiinder can be made by calling Alpine Childrens Services on 57544848.
Before and After School Care is available each week day and during school holidays for families to use. This service begins at 6.00am and finishes at 7.00pm. Mount Beauty Primary School runs this program out of our school.
